About the Scholarship Program:
The APA Legacy Sustainability Initiative is an education support program established by Dr. David Olofu, a former Commissioner for Finance in Benue State, Nigeria. This initiative was created to aid Idoma students in tertiary institutions who are facing financial challenges. The fund, initially set at N20 million, aims to grow by N10 million annually until it reaches a total of N50 million. The initiative was inspired by Dr. Olofu’s personal experience of financial struggle during his university years, which motivated him to support students in similar situations. The program aligns with broader efforts to support education under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration​.
The fund’s management is overseen by a Board of Trustees chaired by Professor David Salifu, with representation from various stakeholders, including the National Association of Idoma Students (NAIS), the Idoma Area Traditional Council, civil society, and local government officials​ (Independent)​. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards empowering Idoma students and encouraging other leaders to contribute to educational development in the region.
We are excited to announce the commencement of the 2025 Second Edition of the APA Legacy and Sustainability Initiative Scholarship Programme. This impactful initiative aims to empower indigent students from the Nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue South, by providing financial support to ease their academic journey. This initiative continues to reflect Dr. Olofu’s dedication to education, equity, and sustainable development in Benue South and beyond.
Benefits of the Scholarship Program:
In this edition, ₦100,000 each will be awarded to 100 deserving students currently enrolled in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship Program:
Interested applicants for this scholarship program MUST fulfill the following requirements:
- Applicants MUST be a current Student of a public tertiary institution in Nigeria
- Applicants MUST have a CGPA of 2.5 and above
- Applicants MUST hail from Benue South Senatorial District
- Previous beneficiaries are not eligible
- There will be 5% slot for persons with disability from each public institution.

Application Deadline:
Applications for the APA Legacy and Sustainability Scholarship Programme 2025 are open for entries until the 20th of September, 2025. Early applications are highly encouraged.
