UCTSIG RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP 2025

About the Research Program:

The Unilorin Cardiothoracic Interest Group was founded with a singular mission: “Empowering future cardiothoracic surgeons, one heartbeat at a time.” Recognizing the limited interest in cardiothoracic surgery among Nigerian medical students, UCTSIG was established to ignite passion and foster expertise in this critical area of medicine. UCTSIG is dedicated to promoting cardiothoracic surgery through comprehensive research, mentorship, and training. We aim to cultivate a new generation of skilled cardiothoracic surgeons who are not only knowledgeable but also innovative and committed to excellence in healthcare.

At UCTSIG, a future is envisioned where Nigeria is home to a cadre of skilled and passionate cardiothoracic surgeons, ready to lead and innovate in healthcare. Our commitment extends to forging a dynamic network of professionals enthusiastic about advancing pioneering research and offering comprehensive training programs that set new benchmarks in the field.

The University of Ilorin Cardiothoracic Surgery Interest Group (UCTSIG) is hereby actively seeking passionate individuals to join her team and contribute to advancing research initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants MUST be Clinical medical students.
  • Applicants MUST have Demonstrated interest in clinical research.
  • Applicants MUST have strong interest related to cardiothoracic surgery will be considered.
  • Applicants MUST demonstrate a willingness to contribute to the advancement of this field.
  • Applicants MUST have a Researchgate account.
  • Applicants MUST be willing to commit 3-5 hours per week to research.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Certification of completing a course on good Citation behavior.
  • Certification of completing a course on manuscript preparation
