About the Scholarship Program:
The Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation was birthed by our founder Chief Dr. Opeoluwa Sotonwa, who became deaf at sixteen and had to withdraw from school. He had first-hand experiences of discrimination against people with disabilities and could relate to how students with disability struggle to achieve their educational aspirations. These experiences shaped his life’s passion for public services and using his God-given talents to fight for the less privileged.  The Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation was founded upon the principle that an educated deaf society is fundamental to the success of a community. The Foundation is committed to policy and systems change that will increase education access and affordability to deaf students.Â
The cost of higher education has become expensive over the years, which has resulted in more students requiring financial assistance in order to make their post-secondary schooling plans possible. That reach is even more unattainable for deaf students. The objective of The Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation is to bridge this gap and make financial support available to deaf Nigerian students who need financial assistance to be able to complete their course of study. The Opeoluwa Sotonwa Foundation is dedicated to providing varying levels of scholarships for deaf students in higher Institutions.
