About the Scholarship Program:

In Nigeria, children from low-income families are often forced to drop out of school due to financial constraints. Over 10 million Nigerian children are out of school, and many who begin education never make it past junior secondary level with only about 55% of eligible students transition to senior secondary school, and fewer than 12% gain admission into higher institutions. For many, even getting a chance to write WAEC and JAMB is an impossible financial hurdle. At LONG Empowerment Foundation, we provide academic and vocational scholarships, mentorship, and a thriving support community to help youth rise above their circumstances and rewrite their stories. Because when given the tools, our youth don’t just survive they lead.

Categories of Scholarships:

Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship helps ease your financial burden by covering tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses for one academic year, allowing you to focus on your studies and excel in your field. Scholarship is renewable annually based on your academic performance and financial need.

OND/HND Scholarship

This scholarship supports your tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses for one academic year, helping you concentrate on your studies without worrying about financial constraints. Scholarship is renewable annually based on your academic performance and financial need.

Secondary School Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to support you if you are a brilliant junior or senior secondary school student at risk of dropping out due to financial challenges. It can be awarded for a maximum of six academic years, ensuring you have consistent support throughout your secondary education.

WAEC/JAMB Scholarship

This scholarship supports you in your final year of secondary school by covering the costs of registering for your WAEC/JAMB entrance exams. It ensures that financial challenges do not stand in the way of your transition to tertiary education.

Eligibility Criteria of the Scholarship Program:

Undergraduate Scholarship:

1. You are aged 16–26 years at the time of application
2. You have secured admission into an accredited Nigerian university
3. As a continuing students you have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of second class upper i.e, 3.5 on a scale of 5.0 or its equivalent.
4. As a new student you present proof of admission, which includes a signed admission and acceptance letter, a copy of WAEC results with a minimum of 5 credits, and copy of JAMB result with a minimum score of 200.
5. You are from a low-income family with an annual income of less than 3 million Naira per annum and you are able to provide evidence of financial need through your parent’s bank statements, or a recommendation from your school’s bursar,  another registered scholarship giving organization you’ve benefited from or a member of our serving Board of Trustees.
6. You demonstrate leadership potential and community involvement

OND/HND Scholarship:

1. You are aged 16–26 years at the time of application

6. You demonstrate leadership potential and community involvement

Secondary School Scholarship:

1. Be aged between 10–19 years
2. Must be a citizen of Nigeria and enrolled in junior or senior secondary school (JSS1 to SS3) in Nigeria
3. Must demonstrate outstanding academic performance (top 20% of class preferred).
4. Senior secondary applicants must record at least 5 credits in the compulsory courses in their chosen academic area (e.g., sciences, art, technical, or commercial) in the SS1 first term examination.
5. Must provide recent school report cards and a recommendation from two school teachers or administrators.
6. Must commit to completing their secondary education
7. Evidence of financial hardship required (e.g., lack of parental support, parents’ bank account statement)

WAEC/JAMB Scholarship:

1. Must be between 15–19 years old
2. Must be a citizen of Nigeria and enrolled in a senior secondary school in the country
3. Must be in SS3 (final year of secondary school, SS2 students will not be considered)
4. Must attend a public or low-cost private school, where exam fees are not covered by the state or federal government
5. Must show academic promise (school report cards with a strong academic record)
6. Must provide a letter of attestation from a school principal, teacher, or community leader
7. Demonstrate inability to afford exam registration fees through the recommendation of the school bursar.
8. Must be committed to continuing into tertiary education

Applications for the LONG Empowerment Foundation Scholarship 2025 are open for entries until the 18th of June, 2026. Early applications are highly encouraged.
