Before you start this journey, you must first of understand that your credentials and track record is important. Another thing is confidence to sell yourself out there and gain your spot.

You will have to pass through a verification process, and once you are verified and you have proven to be consistent with lots of reviews, then your pay will increase. Per hour, you will be paid around 5000 naira. 

To get started.

2. Fill in Your Profile Details

You’ll be asked for:

  • Your full name, email, and phone number
  • Subjects you can teach (e.g. English, Maths, Chemistry, WAEC Prep, etc.)
  • Location (for hybrid or home tutoring options)
  • Educational qualification –  minimum is usually an undergraduate student or graduate
  • Experience (how long you’ve taught, if any) Even if you have not taught for long, you should know how to go about this because everyday, you teach and if you are sure of yourself, you can

Make sure your profile looks professional – this helps you attract more students. I have provided you with the template sample you can use to get your C.V done.

3. Upload Supporting Documents

You’ll likely need to upload:

  • Your degree or student ID card
  • A passport photograph
  • Any certificates or recommendation letters from previous tutoring jobs or institutions

4. Wait for Screening / Verification

Educere verifies every tutor before listing them. They may contact you by email or phone for a short interview or subject test.
This helps them match you with suitable students.

5. Set Your Teaching Subjects and Rates

Once approved, you’ll get a tutor dashboard. There you can:

  • Choose the subjects you want to teach
  • Select whether you’ll teach online, at students’ homes, or at your own location
  • Indicate your availability and hourly or per-session rate

Tuteria

This is another platform that pays you to tutor in Nigeria and anywhere in the world. If you are confident of yourself and you know that you can teach any subject as a Nigerian tutor, then this one is for you. 

Steps to  follow in creating an account and register as a tutor on the site

  1. Click on Apply as a tutor;  
  2. After this, a form will popout,  fill the form and input all your details

However, you must understand these; 

There are no specific certifications or teaching experience required! Applicants who:

  • Are 18 years or older and have right to work
  • Are willing to put the student’s needs first
  • Very brilliant, and have impressive academic or professional track-records
  • Enjoy sharing knowledge and making impact
  • Have great communication and customer service

How you will get paid

When you get a booking, your take-home pay will be indicated there as well. Some of the most active tutors earn anywhere from ₦40,000 to ₦300,000 per month depending on your availability, the demand for your subjects, location, etc.

Once you’re approved, you can start receiving job offers that match your profile. However, you’re expected to cover the cost of data or transportation.

Payments are made to you after you’ve delivered all lessons and submitted same into our system.

Provided there are no pending issues to be resolved with the booking, you should receive monies in your connected bank account 24 hours afterwards.

3. Superprof 

This is another site where you can make money as a tutor from Nigeria, but the only difference is that you will be the one to set your rate, and once you get the visibility, you are free to get your students and earn. 

Feel free to join them, but the amount you set as your rate is what you will get as your earning.

  1. Fill out this form.
  2. Check your email and click the link in the verification email sent to your registered email address. The link will return you to this website to complete your profile.
  3. Complete and save your profile.
  4. Note that the email activation link expires after 24 hours if not used. In this case, you can only activate your account by using our password reset facility. This will send you a new link, and you can click on the link to activate your account, set a new password if you like, and then complete your profile.

Actually, there are other sites that pay people to tutor abroad, but these ones are Nigeria-based. You should try them out and let me know your view about that.
