Selar Smart Hustle Initiative 2026 – Support Fund for Nigerian Students

Selar Smart Hustle Initiative 2026 – Support Fund for Nigerian Students

Selar, the eCommerce and creator monetization platform, has extended its social impact efforts with the Smart Hustle Initiative, a programme designed to provide financial support and opportunity access to young Nigerians at critical stages of their academic and early career journeys.

The programme reflects Selar’s belief that improving access to education and legitimate earning opportunities can help reduce youth vulnerability to fraud and economic exclusion.

Key Purpose of Smart Hustle

Rather than focusing solely on enforcement, the Smart Hustle Initiative takes a preventive approach—addressing structural barriers that push young people toward risky informal activities by expanding access to education, financial support and ethical income-earning pathways.

What the Initiative Offers

Financial Support for Students

  • Selar has committed ₦10 million to support 150 Nigerians through the Smart Hustle Initiative.
  • 50 university and polytechnic final-year students will receive ₦100,000 each.
  • 100 senior secondary school students (SS3) preparing for WAEC and JAMB will receive ₦50,000 each.

The support is intended to ease financial pressures at challenging transition points—either preparing for national exams or entering the workforce after tertiary education.

Application Window

Applications are open from 24 February to 13 March 2026. Eligible students are encouraged to submit their documentation through the official portal.

Who Can Apply

University / Polytechnic Category

Applicants must:

  • Be in their final year at an accredited Nigerian university or polytechnic.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (or 65%).
  • Submit a recent academic transcript, a valid student ID, and a video motivation statement.

Secondary School Category

  • Applicants must be SS3 students with evidence of JAMB or WAEC registration or recent results.
  • A video motivation statement is also required.

All applications are reviewed by an independent selection committee to ensure fairness.

Beyond Financial Aid

Selar’s Smart Hustle Initiative has broader goals than one-off financial disbursements.

The company plans to build out:

  • National campaigns on earning ethically
  • Community engagement programmes
  • Partnerships that connect youth to income generation and digital skills

These efforts aim to empower young people with financial literacy, practical digital skills, and avenues for legitimate income rather than riskier alternatives.

Selar: Company Background

Selar is an all-in-one eCommerce platform that enables creators and entrepreneurs to sell digital products, services and experiences online. Users can build their own storefronts, accept payments in multiple currencies, and earn through features like affiliate distribution and tipping tools.

The Smart Hustle Initiative is part of Selar’s expanding social impact efforts to support education and youth empowerment across Nigeria.

A Broader Perspective

Initiatives like Smart Hustle reflect a growing trend among tech companies in Africa to combine business innovation with social responsibility—especially as youth unemployment and exam access challenges grow. By connecting financial support with skills development and ethical earning pathways, programmes like this help young Nigerians bridge critical gaps on their educational journeys.
