I am Warith Ademola TIAMIYU and I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude to share that I have been selected as one of the winners of the Treekle STEM Scholarship. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support, mentorship, and recommendations from Icanstudent Initiative. I am deeply thankful to the Icanstudent initiative for their instrumental role in helping me reach this milestone. I applied for Treekle Stem Scholarship, got to the recommendation stage and got 334 votes and by God’s grace I scaled through as one of the winners of the prestigious scholarship. My name is Ayoola Timilehin Israel, a 300 level student of Mechatronics Engineering. After facing countless scholarship rejections, I finally emerged as one of the top 30 recipients of the prestigious Treekle STEM Scholarship. I want to sincerely thank Icanstudent for being that consistent light, sharing daily opportunities that keep our dreams alive. It was through the Icanstudent website that I discovered the Treekle Scholarship, and though the process was stressful especially getting the recommendations was able to push through with the help of my amazing friends and family. I am a student of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, the first child in my family, I am Yoruba by tribe residen in Sokoto State. A big shout-out to the leadership of Icanstudent and Icanites for the encouragement, drive and support. I got to know about the Treekle Stem scholarship through the Icanstudent WhatsApp group, and after I applied, I was shortlisted for the second round of the scholarship which was quite rigorous, but having other groups members also shortlisted made me know I was not alone, I was encouraged, and gingered by the efforts and drive of fellow group members. My gratitude goes to the leadership of Icanstudent for creating such a platform where students can discuss not just opportunities but other academic related issues. Getting the Jim Ovia scholarship this year was really a test of faith for me. the application came out late last year and i got to see it on the ICANSTUDENT group and after applying, it was like the foundation had forgotten about us. January passed by but we got no response unlike the previous year, and then March came when i finally got a mail that verification request had been sent to my school. After following up the verification, i was indeed happy. it was like I would not be awarded after about two months and there was no mail sent, I only got to know about other awardees that were getting paid. I followed up and realized not all the required documents were submitted by my school, so I had to check up with my school and then the document was sent. and it came to pass just when i was really down financially, about to start exams that the award my paid to my account. i was really moved. Thank you to the Jim Ovia foundation and to Icanstudent for their help, support, guidance and mentorship throughout the application process.
