About the scholarship program:

Opay was established in 2018 with license from CBN and insured by NDIC with this same insurance coverage like other commercial banks, committed to deepening financial inclusion through technology and enabling shared prosperity. OPay is a one-stop financial service platform for payments, transfers, savings, loans and other essential services for users, provides the best POS service for agents and acquiring service for merchant currently OPay boasts of over tens of millions of users, agents and merchants in Nigeria. The OPay University Scholarship Program aims to address the financial barriers hindering students from pursuing higher education. This initiative aligns with our commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and fostering a supportive learning environment. By providing financial assistance and promoting inclusivity, we aim to empower students and contribute to their academic and personal growth. The program seeks to enhance the educational experience of students by alleviating financial burdens, thus allowing them to focus on their studies and personal development. Access to quality education is a cornerstone of individual and societal development. However, many students face financial challenges that impede their ability to pursue higher education. The OPay Scholarship Program is designed to bridge this gap and make education more accessible.

The purpose of the scholarship program is to:

• Enhance the employability and future success of scholarship recipients.

• Provide financial assistance to students with demonstrated need.

• Promote inclusivity by ensuring equal opportunities for all.

The goal of this scholarship is to promote access to education, foster inclusivity, and contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals.

The objectives of the scholarship include:

1. Financial Assistance: Provide financial support to students facing economic barriers to accessing higher education by reducing the financial burden of tuition, fees, and other educational expenses.

2. Promoting Inclusivity: Ensure that individuals from all backgrounds have equal opportunities to access the benefits of the scholarship.

3. Career Development: Support students in their career aspirations by providing the financial means to pursue internships, research opportunities, or other professional development activities. Enhance the employability and future success of scholarship recipients.

Eligibility Criteria of the Opay scholarship:

• Institution of Study: Applications for the OPay scholarship will be made available inpublic universities nationwide.

• Course of Study: Application is open to students from all departments of any public university in the federation

• Level of Study: Application is open to undergraduate students of any level in any public university in the federation

• Applicant MUST have an active OPay account.

Scholarship details and benefits:

• Duration: The Opay scholarship will be valid for one academic session.

• Scholarship Amount: Each awardee of the Opay scholarship will be awarded with the cash award of ₦300,000.
• 40 shortlisted undergraduate students will receive N300,000 per academic session upon successfully meeting the requirements and going through the screening process.

In summary, All beneficiaries of the Opay Scholarship will receive a sum of ₦300,000. In some schools, 40 beneficiaries will be selected in some schools, while 20 will be awarded in others. A total of ₦1.2 billion will be spent by Opay in next ten years for this scholarship.

Additional Information:

The scholarship has been launched by Opay at the University of Ibadan, and at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. 17 other universities are expected to benefit from the Opay Scholarship. Be sure to keep an eye out for this one as we will surely update you as application forms roll out.
