About the Program
The MEST AI Startup Program is an immersive, full-time experience that equips aspiring founders with the technical, business, and leadership skills needed to build successful AI-powered companies.
During the 7-month training phase, participants will learn AI software development, startup fundamentals, customer validation, product development, business modelling, and go-to-market strategies while working alongside experienced entrepreneurs and AI experts from organizations such as Google, Meta, OpenAI, and other leading technology companies.
Participants will also form startup teams, validate business ideas, and build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). The strongest ventures will progress into a 4-month incubation phase focused on scaling products, acquiring customers, refining business models, and preparing for investment.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be 21–35 years old.
- Be a citizen of a West or East African country.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or possess equivalent practical experience.
- Have demonstrated software development experience.
- Possess a basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence.
- Show a strong interest in entrepreneurship.
- Have an entrepreneurial, innovative, and problem-solving mindset.
- Be available full-time for up to 12 months (7 months of training and, if selected, 4 months of incubation).
- Intend to pursue entrepreneurship as a full-time career after the program.
Applicants from countries outside MEST’s primary recruitment countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and Kenya) may still apply but must be able to travel at their own expense to one of these countries for in-person interviews if shortlisted.
