African women college students can pursue STEM-related courses thanks to the WAAW Foundation Scholarship. With the help of this grant, you can concentrate on your studies while volunteering to support your community and encourage women to pursue STEM fields through their university’s STEM Outreach Chapter.
The WAAW Foundation is looking for scholars that show a need and have the passion and drive to make a difference in their community. Eligibility Criteria
Below are the eligibility requirements for the WAAW foundation scholarship;
- Female students of African origin, living and studying in Africa.
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree programme.
- Studying STEM-related courses at a university or college in Africa.
- Presently a first- or second-year student or a third-year student for a 5-year course in a university.
- Ability to demonstrate financial need
- Excellent Academic Record.
- Proven leadership, volunteering, and community service
- Below the age of 32 years.
Document requirements
To be accepted into the WAAW foundation scholarship, these documents are required:
Two references. One MUST be written by a professor from your institution of study, and the other from an academic supervisor/advisor or mentor to be emailed by your referee to us.
Courses that are eligible for the WAAW Foundation scholarship
Only STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)-related courses are accepted and will be considered for the scholarship offer.
- Medical and Nursing students are not eligible to apply for the WAAW Foundation scholarship

The scholarship payment is made in two tranches (installments):
- First Payment: Issued after official selection and verification of documents.
- Second Payment: Released after the scholar meets all engagement and outreach requirements.
What are the requirements for the payment of the second payment of the scholarship?
- Be an active part of a WAAW Foundation STEM Chapter, or start one if your school doesn’t already have a chapter.
- Participate in at least two (2) STEM outreach programmes organised by your chapter or approved by the WAAW Foundation.
- Submit brief reports or documentation of your outreach activities.

Yes. Failure to meet the outreach or chapter engagement requirements may affect your eligibility for the second payment and continued recognition as an active WAAW Scholar.
