About the A.U/ E.U contest
The African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) share a long-standing partnership built on mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared vision for sustainable development, peace, and prosperity across both continents.
For over 25 years, the AU–EU partnership has worked to strengthen ties between Africa and Europe empowering youth, fostering innovation, and promoting cultural exchange.
Through initiatives like “Through Our Lens,” the partnership celebrates creative voices that reflect the unity, diversity, and progress connecting both regions. This photo competition is a platform for storytellers to capture the essence of cooperation and showcase how collaboration continues to shape a brighter, shared future.
Competition Theme
– Interested candidates are instructed to upload any of their pictures following the theme “Through Our Lens”.
Eligibility for the Competition
Applicants are expected to meet the following requirements to be eligible:
1. Each participant may submit only one original photograph that aligns with the theme “Through Our Lens”.
2. Photos can be taken with a professional camera, smartphone, or any digital device, as long as they are of high visual quality.
3. Submissions must be authentic and original, taken by the entrant, and must not have been previously published or awarded in another competition.
Prizes of the Competition
a. €500 Cash Prize – awarded to each of the selected winners for their outstanding creativity and storytelling.
b. Fully Funded Trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — winners will be invited to attend a special exhibition and celebration marking 25 years of the AU–EU partnership, where their work will be showcased before leaders, media, and international audiences.
c. Exhibition Feature — winning photos will be displayed at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, symbolising unity, innovation, and the shared vision of both continents.
d. Global Exposure—winners will be featured on official AU and EU digital platforms, publications, and partner media outlets, reaching a worldwide audience.
Deadline
The submission deadline is November 7th, 2025. Entries submitted after this date will not be considered, so ensure you send yours on time.
How to Participate

- Complete the online entry form with your details (name, contact information, nationality/residence, etc.).
- Each participant may submit up to three entries. Any applications need to be done in English or French.
- Photographers must be 30 years or younger to encourage emerging talent.
