About the Programme

The FAJIM Scholars Programme provides financial support and mentorship to undergraduate students pursuing healthcare careers in Nigerian public universities.

Through academic guidance, professional development, health education and community service, the programme supports scholars in their studies and prepares them to contribute to the health of their communities.

Eligibility Requirements for New Applicants

Applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled in 200 level at a Nigerian public university.
  2. Be studying one of the eligible healthcare programmes.
  3. Have a CGPA of 5.00 on a 5-point scale, or an equivalent result accepted by the FAJIM Scholarship Committee.
  4. Demonstrate financial need.
  5. Be willing to participate in mentorship, health education and community service activities.

Previous volunteering experience is an advantage but is not required.

Required Documents

New applicants must upload:

  1. A recent passport-style photograph with a white background.
  2. A current course registration record or an official university letter confirming enrolment and level.
  3. Latest university transcript or statement of results.
  4. Direct Entry qualification results, where applicable.
  5. One signed recommendation letter from the Faculty Dean, Sub-Dean or Head of Department, addressed to The Scholarship Committee, FAJIM Medicare Foundation.

Direct Entry applicants who are awaiting university results should submit their entry qualification results for assessment.

  2. Confirmed that your university is a Nigerian public university.
  3. Confirmed that you study an eligible healthcare course.
  4. Confirmed that you have a 5.00/5.00 CGPA or accepted equivalent.

  6. Obtained your current course registration record or university enrolment letter.
  7. Prepared your latest transcript or statement of results.
  8. Prepared your Direct Entry qualification results, if applicable.
  9. Obtained a signed recommendation letter from your Dean, Sub-Dean or Head of Department.
  10. Ensured that all uploaded documents are clear and legible.
  11. Completed the application form accurately.
  12. Submitted the application before the deadline.

For Current FAJIM Scholars

Current scholars seeking support for the 2026/2027 academic session must complete a separate renewal form.

The renewal form and submission instructions will be shared directly in the official FAJIM Scholars’ WhatsApp group.

Renewal applicants should provide:

  • Updated academic information
  • Updated financial circumstances
  • Participation records
  • Supporting documents requested in the renewal form

Renewal is assessed based on the conditions of the scholar’s existing award and available funding.

Current scholars should not complete the new-applicant form.

The new-applicant eligibility requirements do not replace the existing conditions for scholarship renewal.

Programme Responsibilities

FAJIM Scholars are expected to:

  1. Maintain strong academic performance and uphold integrity.
  2. Participate in mentorship sessions, health education and scholar activities.
  3. Volunteer in at least one FAJIM or other health outreach programme annually.
  4. Submit academic results and progress updates when requested.
  5. Communicate circumstances that may affect their studies or participation.

Selection and Renewal

New applications are assessed based on:

  • Academic performance
  • Financial need
  • Commitment to the programme

Renewal applications are assessed against the conditions of the existing scholarship.

All awards are subject to verification and available funding. Submitting an application or renewal form does not guarantee an award.
