Erasmus Mundus NOHA Scholarship for International Students
Applications are open for the 2027–2029 Erasmus Mundus NOHA Scholarship, supporting full-time postgraduate study in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree Programme in International Humanitarian Action. The two-year programme combines academic study, professional preparation, research and international mobility across participating universities.

About the NOHA Programme
The Network on Humanitarian Action AISBL (NOHA) is an international association of universities focused on strengthening professionalism in the humanitarian sector through education, training, research, publications and collaborative projects.
NOHA includes nine European universities and 11 global partner universities, supported by more than 150 professors and lecturers. Its network has produced more than 3,500 graduates working in humanitarian relief and international cooperation worldwide.
The International Humanitarian Action Master’s programme was established in 1993 with support from the European Commission and has continued as an Erasmus Mundus programme.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders receive:
- €1,400 per month
- Support for up to 24 months
- Contribution towards travel costs
- Contribution towards visa costs
- Contribution towards installation costs
- Contribution towards subsistence costs
- Up to €33,600 over the maximum 24-month period, subject to the scholarship conditions and duration of support.
The scholarship covers the full duration of the Master’s programme for full-time scholarship holders.
Number of Erasmus Mundus Scholarships
For the 2027–2029 intake, NOHA states that there are:
- 4 scholarships for candidates from Programme Countries
- 8 scholarships targeted at students from Partner Countries
- 4 scholarships for candidates from specified Targeted Regions
No more than 10% of the total scholarships can be awarded to students of the same nationality.
About the Master’s Programme
The programme is a two-year, four-semester postgraduate programme worth 120 ECTS credits.
Students follow a structured learning path covering foundational study, specialisation, contextual learning and independent research.
Programme Structure
1. Introductory Period
An intensive introductory phase establishes a shared foundation for the programme.
2. Foundation Period
The first semester takes place at the student’s home university and provides the academic and conceptual foundation for humanitarian action.
3. Specialisation Period
During the second semester, students move to a host university for professional and academic specialisation.
4. Contextualisation Period
The third semester focuses on contextual or regional learning and may include mobility or regional training options.
5. Research Period
The fourth semester is completed at the home university and is dedicated to research and completion of the Master’s requirements.
Study Locations and Mobility
The programme is delivered through participating universities in:
- France
- Malta
- Netherlands
- Germany
- Spain
- Ireland
- Poland
- Sweden
Students’ home and host university arrangements determine the location and language of specific study periods.
Students are required to participate in international mobility. The official application system states that enrolled students must complete at least two study periods in two different countries, with at least one country being an EU Member State or associated Programme Country. Each mandatory mobility period must correspond to at least one academic semester or 30 ECTS credits, and compulsory mobility cannot be replaced by virtual learning.

The language depends on the student’s home and host university.
The official application system requires recognised language qualifications, including C1 English, C1 French or B2 Spanish, depending on the programme/university selected.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, applicants must:
- Apply for full-time study in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree Programme in International Humanitarian Action.
- Have completed their degree before December 15, 2026.
- Hold at least a university first-cycle degree/Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to humanitarian action.
- Be prepared to participate in the programme’s international mobility structure.
- Meet the applicable language requirements.
- Provide proof of nationality.
- Provide valid proof of place of residence.
- Not have previously received an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship.
- Not have previously received an Erasmus Mundus Master Course or Joint Doctorate scholarship.
- Not receive another EU-funded scholarship for the same EMJM course during the programme period.
Applicants with multiple nationalities must choose the nationality under which they will apply.
