Organized by BBYDI as part of their AI Literacy for Everyday People in Nigeria project (supported by the Patrick J. Competition Topic & Focus

Essay Topic: “Artificial Intelligence for Public Good: Balancing Innovation, Human Welfare, and Responsible Governance.”

Your essay must be:

• Specific and grounded in the Nigerian context (e.g., real-world applications in healthcare, agriculture, education, governance, or economy)
• Well-evidenced with examples, data, or logical reasoning
• Original in voice and analysis (AI tools allowed for research/support, but the core argument must be yours — AI-generated submissions will be disqualified)

This topic rewards insightful, Nigeria-focused perspectives on ethical AI, AI innovation in Africa, and responsible technology use — high-relevance keywords for anyone building a profile in tech policy or development.

Eligibility & Requirements

• Open to students aged 18–30
• Enrolled in any recognized Nigerian tertiary institution (universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, monotechnics, schools of nursing, etc.)
• No CGPA/GPA minimum — selection based purely on essay quality, originality, and strength of argument

Format Rules:

• Word count: 1,200–1,500 words
• English language, Times New Roman 12pt, double-spaced
