Scholarship Details

Introduction

Applications are invited for the Anthony Udokwu’s Foundation-Yahweh 2028 University Scholarship, a financial support opportunity for eligible university students experiencing significant hardship.

The scholarship is offered by Anthony Udokwu’s Foundation-Yahweh, a registered charity in England and Wales (Charity No. 1214603). The Foundation aims to make education more accessible to students whose academic journeys are affected by poverty, disability, loss of parental support, abuse, exploitation, neglect, abandonment or other serious personal circumstances.

The Foundation states that it does not judge students by grades alone. Instead, it considers academic effort alongside verified financial need, vulnerability, resilience, dignity and the applicant’s potential to make a positive difference in their community.

Important: Being a university student does not automatically make someone eligible. Applicants must meet at least one of the Foundation’s published eligibility routes and undergo the relevant assessment and verification process.

  • Scholarship provider: Anthony Udokwu’s Foundation-Yahweh
  • Scholarship year: 2028
  • Study level: University
  • Location: Nigeria-focused university scholarship
  • Eligible applicants: University students who meet at least one of the Foundation’s specified eligibility routes
  • Scholarship value: Not specified on the official application page
  • Application fee: Free

Benefits

The Foundation provides university scholarship support to eligible students facing genuine hardship. However, the 2028 application page does not state a fixed award amount or specify the precise tuition coverage or duration for this particular scholarship round. Applicants should therefore consult the Foundation for details of the award available to successful candidates.

The Foundation’s scholarship philosophy focuses on the following principles:

1. Consideration of genuine hardship

Applicants’ circumstances are considered alongside academic performance. The Foundation recognises that poverty, disability, bereavement, neglect and limited access to educational resources can affect a student’s academic results.

2. Support for vulnerable students

The programme specifically identifies students living with disabilities, orphans who meet its criteria, and students experiencing critical circumstances that affect their education or safety.

3. Individual assessment

Applications are reviewed by people, not decided solely by an automated score. The Foundation states that it considers each applicant’s circumstances and may shortlist an applicant even if their ethical-scenario assessment is marked “FAILED.”

4. Online application monitoring

After submitting an application, applicants receive an application reference and can use their email address to access the Foundation Records Portal to monitor their application.

5. A structured and accountable process

The Foundation uses eligibility checks, application review and verification to assess applications and ensure scholarship support is awarded responsibly.

6. No application fee

The official application page states that applying for the 2028 scholarship is free. Applicants should not pay an application or processing fee for this programme.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet at least one of the Foundation’s three core eligibility routes.

1. Students living with disabilities

Students with disabilities may apply. The application asks applicants to describe their disability or accessibility issue where relevant and explain their current support system.

Applicants should not upload medical documents at the initial application stage. The Foundation states that official supporting evidence may be requested later if an application progresses.

2. Orphans

The Foundation primarily recognises applicants who have lost both parents. Certain cases involving the death of one parent may qualify where the surviving parent has permanently abandoned or disowned the applicant or provides no meaningful support.

Having one deceased parent does not automatically qualify an applicant if the surviving parent continues to provide support.

Applicants are asked to explain their parental circumstances, who currently supports them and how their education is funded. If necessary, the Foundation may request official, traceable evidence from an appropriate recognised authority.

3. Students facing critical extenuating circumstances

Students experiencing serious circumstances affecting their education or safety may qualify. These include:

  • Abuse or exploitation.
  • Serious neglect.
  • Abandonment.
  • Unsafe living conditions or other critical personal circumstances affecting education or safety.

Applicants must briefly explain how their circumstances affect their education. The Foundation advises applicants not to provide graphic descriptions of abuse or sexual violence; a concise explanation is sufficient at the application stage.

Additional application requirements

Applicants should be prepared to provide the following information:

  • A valid email address they can access.
  • Full name.
  • WhatsApp number.
  • Date of birth.
  • Nationality and residence.
  • University or institution name.
  • Course of study.
  • Registration or matriculation number.
  • Current year or level of study.
  • Expected graduation year.
  • Annual tuition or compulsory fees in Nigerian naira.
  • Information about who currently pays their university fees.
  • Details of any other scholarship or regular financial support received.
  • Information about any previous support received from the Foundation.
  • A brief explanation of their financial circumstances and why assistance is needed.
  • The name, role and contact details of a person who can verify their student status or circumstances.

Applicants must provide truthful information. The Foundation may request supporting evidence during a later stage of the process.

Deadline

The application deadline for the Anthony Udokwu’s Foundation-Yahweh 2028 Scholarship is February 28, 2027.

Interested students should visit the official application page to check whether a closing date or additional instructions have been announced.

Applicants are encouraged to confirm the deadline directly with the Foundation before relying on third-party listings.

How to Apply

Interested and eligible students can apply by following these steps.

Step 1: Visit the official application page

Open the Foundation’s 2028 Scholarship application page:

Read the eligibility information before starting. Being enrolled at a university alone is not sufficient; applicants must meet at least one of the Foundation’s eligibility routes.

Step 2: Complete the eligibility check

Answer the questions about disability, parental circumstances, current support arrangements and any critical circumstances affecting your education or safety.

Explain your situation honestly and concisely. Do not upload medical, orphanhood or abuse-related documents at this stage unless the Foundation subsequently requests supporting evidence.

Step 3: Enter your personal details

Provide your full name, accessible email address, WhatsApp number, date of birth and nationality or residence details.

Use an email address you can access because it will also be used to log in to the Foundation Records Portal. When accessing the portal for the first time, you must use the same date of birth entered in your application.

Step 4: Provide your university details

Enter your institution, course of study, matriculation or registration number, current academic level, expected graduation year and annual tuition or compulsory fees in Nigerian naira.

Ensure the information accurately reflects your current enrolment.

Step 5: Explain your financial circumstances

Answer the questions about who pays your fees, whether you receive other scholarships or regular financial support, whether you have previously received support from the Foundation, and why you need assistance.

Keep your answers clear, truthful and relevant to your circumstances.

Step 6: Complete the ethical scenarios

The application contains ten hypothetical situations involving compassion, dignity, fairness, integrity, safety and responsible stewardship.

The scenarios cover topics such as responding to a child’s medical emergency, showing compassion while maintaining personal boundaries, handling a scholarship overpayment, protecting beneficiaries’ privacy, resisting requests for preferential treatment, responding to sensitive disclosures, making reasonable adjustments for disability, assessing hardship alongside academic grades, using restricted scholarship funds responsibly, and helping someone who previously bullied you.

Each scenario is scored out of 10, giving a maximum score of 100. A score of 80 or above is recorded as PASSED, while a lower score is recorded as FAILED.

The Foundation explains that this assessment evaluates responses to hypothetical situations; it is not a measure of a person’s worth or an automatic scholarship decision. Human reviewers independently assess applications, and a FAILED result does not automatically disqualify an applicant.

Step 7: Complete the verification and declaration section

Provide the name, role and contact details of someone who can verify your student status or circumstances. Confirm that the information you have supplied is accurate and that you understand submitting an application does not guarantee an award.

The application page states that bank details and supporting documents are not requested at this stage.

Step 8: Submit and monitor your application

Review your information, then submit the application using the “Submit 2028 Scholarship Application” button.

After successful submission, keep your application reference. Use the same email address to access the Foundation Records Portal, where you can monitor updates and view your ethical-scenario score once processing is complete.

The Foundation advises applicants not to submit another application simply to check their status. Only one application from the same email address is accepted for this programme.

Conclusion

The Anthony Udokwu’s Foundation-Yahweh 2028 Scholarship offers a potential source of university financial support for students experiencing serious hardship, particularly students living with disabilities, qualifying orphans, and those affected by abuse, exploitation, neglect or abandonment.

Eligible students should read the official requirements carefully, provide accurate information and follow the application instructions. Remember that submitting an application does not guarantee selection, and the exact award amount and closing date should be confirmed directly with the Foundation.
